Mirielle Cardigan Tutorial

Here is a tutorial on how to make the Mirielle cardigan By: Jadepixel This cardigan is not that hard to make. You can have it done in about 30 to 45 minutes. I would give it a 3 out of 10 in the defaulty level.
Jadepixel did a very good good on her directions so that is what I will be going by.( note: I did forget to do one set in order but it will not hurt to do it this way.) But anyways on with the show.

Like any project we first need to get all of our supplies.

Step 1:   Start by cutting out your patterns. You can get them from http://jadepixel.blogspot.com/2012/02/mirielle-cardigan-pattern.html . Oh and there is a 1/4 inch allowance already in the pattern ( just cut and sew )

Step 2:   Time to lay out the pattern parts on your cloth. (note: make sure that you fold your cloth so that it stretches the right way with the pattern. I know that my trim pieces are not going the right way. But my cloth has enough stretch both ways.)

All the parts are now cut out.

Step 3:  Attach front pieces to back piece at the top ( good side to good side )

Should look like this.

Step 4:  Fold the long trim piece in half longways. ( bad side to bad side) Then place that in the good side of the front and back. I started at one side and worked my way to the other.

When done it should look like this. I folded it up some to show that the seam will be on the inside of the cardigan.

Step 5: For sleeves: Fold cuff in half longways, and sew them the same as the trim piece.( bad side to bad side) Then place that in the good side of the sleeve. Do this to both sleeves.

Should look something like this.

Step 6: Pin sleeve good side to good side of the armhole and stitch around the armhole. Do the same to the other side.

It should look like this.

Step 7: Fold the short trim piece in half longways the same as the long trim piece and the cuffs.( bad side to bad side) Then place that in the good side of the back piece.

Should look something like this. And on to Step 8: Turn the shirt and sleeves to the wrong side out. line up the sleeve and side hems. Starting at the sleeve cuff, stitch down the length of the sleeve and continue down the side. Do this to the other side as well

When done it should look something like this.

Step 9: Turn it right side out and your done. Now we just need to find a DD to try it on.

Today's model is going to be Emily.

Here is what it looks like from the back.

Me: Well Emily. What do you think of Jadepixel's Mirielle cardigan?

Emily: Nice and warm. Nice and warm.
